Macrame Basic: Two Bracelet Designs using Four Strand Braid

Hello my dear readers! Today I want to share with my new passion in jewelry DIY world -- Macrame bracelets. If you are not familiar with the term, Macrame bracelet is usually made by cords/strings using certain kinds of knotting techniques. Beads and charms can also be knotted in to create more design possibilities.

Since this is my first post on Macrame bracelet, I would like to start from the most basic technique -- Four strand braid. This tutorial will first introduce how to make a basic four strand braid using waxed cord. Then shows you two bracelet designs which combines beads with four strand braid. Now let's get started!

1. How to Make Four Strand Braid

This is a short video showing you how to make a basic four strand braid using waxed cord. The process is very simple and straightforward, but will lay a foundation for many more complicated designs.

If you just want to make a simple four strand braid bracelet, I suggest you to explore different color combinations. You can also change the pattern of the braid by simply switching the position of the cord.

Material Needed:

4 strands of waxed cord (0.6mm)

2. Organic Aquamarine Beads Bracelet

In this bracelet design, I made a long strand of braid and attached aquamarine stone in the middle. To give the bracelet a more organic feel, I used a freshwater pearl as a clasp.

Material Needed for aquamarine beads bracelet

4 strands of brown waxed cord (0.6mm)
6mm Aquamarine natural stone beads
1 coin pearl bead

3. Dainty Silver Beads Bracelet

In this design, I weaved tiny 925 silver beads into the braid. This dainty sparkle bracelet is very quick to make. Who wouldn't love a DIY project that takes less than 30 minutes?
